My internet conneciton is 100mbit/s but the speetest shows me 110Mbit/s or even 160mbit/s and then the test aborts with an error I used the site http://www.speedtest.net/ but all other speedtest I tried had similar issues (10:02:56 AM) *** CyberGhost Supporter joined the chat *** (10:03:01 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: hello (10:03:03 AM) Heinz Anders: hi (10:03:52 AM) Heinz Anders: http://abload.de/image.php?img=2016-11-2410_36_128uuet.png (10:03:52 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: we really cannot influence the various websites which test the speed or show the IP, (10:04:14 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: we also don't know what's behind those data (10:04:25 AM) Heinz Anders: can you suggest a website which should work (10:04:34 AM) Heinz Anders: how can I find out how fast cyberghost is? (10:04:56 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: the speedtest.net site (10:05:00 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: is alright (10:05:26 AM) Heinz Anders: http://abload.de/image.php?img=2016-11-2410_36_128uuet.png (10:05:34 AM) Heinz Anders: have a look at the screenshot (10:05:41 AM) Heinz Anders: this happens also if i use openvpn directly (10:05:56 AM) Heinz Anders: i tried another vpn provider but everything was alright (10:06:07 AM) Heinz Anders: its just cyberghost which shows these readings (10:06:33 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: please keep in mind that some times the speed provided by the ISP can be lower then the speed provided by a VPN (10:06:39 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: maybe this is also your case (10:06:51 AM) Heinz Anders: the speed is faster?! (10:07:03 AM) Heinz Anders: my speed is 100mbit/s (from my isp) (10:07:11 AM) Heinz Anders: but 160mbit/s with cyberghost (10:07:45 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: it may be possible (10:07:49 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: why not (10:07:55 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: try another server (10:08:47 AM) Heinz Anders: did you take a look at the screenshot? (10:08:59 AM) Heinz Anders: the opevnpn process shows under 30mbit/s (10:09:23 AM) Heinz Anders: by the way: not it is not possible that i have more than 100mbit/s (i can ssure you) (10:09:39 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: maybe your ISP has a speed limit and because you change the IP this limit is overpassed by the VPN (10:10:02 AM) Heinz Anders: No I am not please look at the screenshot (10:10:02 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: we don't have any speed or bandwidth limit (10:10:14 AM) Heinz Anders: great but as you can see in the screenshot its just 30mbit/s (10:10:59 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: yes I saw (10:11:18 AM) Heinz Anders: so please stop telling me that my speed is faster than 100mbit/s with cg (10:12:35 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: if you wish I can provide you some step by step which may improve your speed (10:12:50 AM) Heinz Anders: yes go on (10:13:47 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: Servers have no limitations it might be that some have more users connected than others or some are downloading bigger files at some point which might cause a difference in bandwidth so basically the speed might drop where there are more users connected. This might happen with free servers as premium servers are more full. There are also other factors that affect speed: your original internet connection, the distance to the VPN server (the distance between your location and the CyberGhost server you are logged into might be very long. For example if you were living in Romania and you connected to one of our US servers there are approx. 8.000km that information has to travel, so unavoidably some speed loss will occur), the quality of backbones and wires and others - but usually it won't fall back behind an average speed of 6 MBit/s. Under ideal conditions one can almost expect to reach the speed of one's usual Internet connection (10:13:52 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: We have no limitations in speed or performance. All our servers have an optical fiber Internet connection with very high data speeds. (10:13:58 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: Speed is very relative. Depending on how you measure it, you will get different results. Some of the components defining the speed are: - your internet connection speed - the hardware used - the ISP infrastructure (some cables are not very good for UDP) - the speedtest service - the location of the speed test service - the VPN servers location (if any) - choose a server that is closest to you - choose a server that has the fewest users connected although there are no limitations from our side, you share a server with multiple users which means the bandwidth is also split; if everyone is just browsing, you won't feel any effect but if some are downloading, you might feel the decrease especially if you are also downloading. - time also plays a role here: if it's a "rush hour" when people usually get home from work, you might notice a difference (10:14:32 AM) CyberGhost Supporter: please try also these steps > run Cyberghost > settings > connection > enable the use of TCP instead of UDP > reboot system > connect
